The runes here represent the Elder Futhark; the oldest of the Runic alphabets. The Futhark represents the letters of the alphabet used in the ancient days by the Germanic and Scandinavian peoples, pre-Viking Age. The Elder Futhark is often mistakenly attributed to the Vikings, when it was in fact the Younger Futhark, a simplified version of the Elder, that was utilized by the Vikings. These runes were used by the tribes from which all modern day Germanic people have descended; including my own -I am Danish and German.

Each earring is carefully hand-crafted from .925 sterling silver and lightly hammered and oxidized to give the metal a warmer, richer tone. No molds or forms are used to craft these earrings and any markings or slight alterations to the shape is part of the nature and beauty of handmade silver jewelry. Each earring can take up to two hours to craft, from start to finish, in a process that requires about a dozen steps.

**The runes and their meanings are as follows:**
